There are many number of sites which do provide subdomain name like yourname.tripod.com . They also provide free web space. The catch is that they embed their advertisements in your Pages. Your web page designing has to be done in specific platform independent languages like HTML, CGI, ASP or Java etc. to name a few. After you have reserved the domain name for yourself, you have to get your web page designed and hosted on some Web Space Servers. Access Time. One of the most Important Factor. Instead of hearing their technical pitch relating to bandwidth etc., better concentrate on asking the sites hosted by them and check independently how much time do they take to load and check this with other sites with nearly similar contents. Some Servers host pages beyond their capacity and this slows down the speed of pages hosted with them. The speed also depends on many technical aspects, but we will restrict our discussion to this point only and this is by far the most reliable indicator of performance. Ideally your page should be downloaded within 1.5 minutes, but this also depends upon the content of the page. If there are too many graphics or lots of matter, this will also slow down the downloading. Most of the free servers are notorious for slow speeds.

Server Down time and Back up Facilities: Another important factor to check is how much is the Mean time between failures. If the server is down when someone looks for your domain, he will receive message "Site not found". This is the largest turnoff. This may also prompt him to think that the site may not exist at all. Nothing can be more disastrous. Most server providers provide their own data, but try to find out with their present clients or check the server many times in a day over a period of say a week. Check out the amount of space offered in megabytes and compare. Check out if they will enhance the requirement if the need arises.

Charges: Lastly, but not the least. There is wide variation in charges. Some also provide for Free, but they display their advertisements on the top of your pages. They are also the slowest around. It is not advised to use them. Your prospective client may not have the patience to wait forever for your page to download. Just Developing and maintaining your web site is not enough. Nobody knows it is there. It is important to make it popular, to attract as many people from wide and far areas as possible. That is why you have made it. You have to:

1. Submit your site to as many as possible Search Engines and Directories as possible. You can also use some auto submission tools to do this. Some are free, while some charge for it. However, with the kind of time needed to do this, their charge actually feels cheap. Caution: Note some SE restrict auto submission and they fare very badly with Search Directories. Some submission services do this manually and you may hire them. Before submitting your site yourself, get some email id from 2itb.com or some other free services. Use this id when asked for email id while submitting to SE, because this can generate spams and when they do, you can simply stop using this email id.
2. Search and Participate in Online discussions, chats like Usenet etc with like minded people and topics related to your business. They generate very targeted and meaningful hits. Before subscribing to such groups, get some email id from free services like Yahoo or Hotmail etc. Use this id when asked for email id, because this can generate spams and when they do, you can simply stop using this email id.

2. Developed and uploaded the software and tested it, HTML used extensively. The concept and design is such that it will keep on evolving itself forever. More and more links will be added continuously.
3. Applied for www.industrialmag.com and payment made vide Credit Card.
4. Professional Linux web hosting bought from 4eit.com.
5. The web site was completed on its deadline, 1st March, 2000 is the deadline.
6. It was thoroughly promoted, all manually by us, no auto Submitter software was hired.
7. Site Promotion is an ongoing process. Press Releases have been handed out on the launch.
8. An IT Seminar had been organised at local Industries Association and literatures relating to site distributed.
9. We regularly submit our URL in Search Engines manually.
10. Our Literatures carry our URL in bold.
